The new labels would also place less emphasis on total fat and more on overall calories. The changes are meant to address the obesity epidemic by telling consumers more clearly what they are putting into their mouths, Obama administration officials say. Two-thirds of Americans overweight or obese, according to NBC News. The changes are being announced as part of the fourth anniversary of first lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” initiative.
