With the help of the Walmart foundation, the LPGA tournament nearly doubled its past contributions, with over $700,000 going to the community this year alone.
Just this week, the LPGA and Kraft Foods donated $10,000 to the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank. LPGA also teamed up with the Cancer Challenge to give Arkansas Children's Hospital $100,000.
"The reason this tournament exists is for quality of life. That's why Walmart and our other sponsors put money into this. To help make Northwest Arkansas a better place to live and work and supporting local charities is a part of that," tournament chair Jay Allen said.
Getting players involved is also a top priority for the tournament.
"Over half of the field has been involved in our charitable and event programs," Allen said. "They want their tour and their tournament to be more than just golf."
