FAYETTEVILLE, AR-- Hundreds of city employees could be seeing some more cash in their paychecks soon. Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan recommended a 3.8% raise for more than 700 city employees in a Tuesday night council meeting. Longtime employees at the top of their pay grade would see the increases. Automatic raises would also be included for police officers and firefighters, as part of a fixed 'step' system. The city plans to use budget surplus funds from 2013 to help pay for the raises, which will cost just over a million dollars.
