SPRINGDALE, AR-- Springdale firefighters got some real-life emergency training on Thursday as part of a special practice session involving car wrecks and other emergency drills.

But fire crew weren't the only ones taking part. Dispatchers were also on hand, observing what it's like out in the field, to get a better understanding of what's happening on that end so they can better report incidents.

"If the dispatchers, the police department, the fire department , all of the personnel, if they know each other's jobs then we can work together better and provide better services to the citizens of Springdale," says Battalion Chief James Hales, with the Springdale Fire Department.

Training continues for a week. But the chief tells us he wants to make this a regular event, at least twice a year.
