SPRINGDALE -- The Springdale city council voted Tuesday night to postpone a vote to rezone land next to Shaw Elementary School.

About 150 residents met Tuesday night, hoping to keep the rezoning from happening.
The rezoning would allow industrial business to buy the property at any time. Signature Bank owns the property, which is just 2,000 feet from the school. This leaves residents concerned about the quality of life in the area.

"The infrastructure does not support an industrial park. It would be not, not be safe at all for the children of the area." said resident Ronnie Barnes.

The city admits that residents may need more information on the item.

"I think this process has been moving way too fast for people and there just was not adequate time for people to get their questions answered and their concerns addressed," said mayor Doug Sprouse.

The council will now vote on the rezoning in September.
