LOWELL – United Way of Northwest Arkansas has officially "Filled the Bus."

This year's Fill the Bus efforts collected more than 100,000 school supply items at 11 local Walmart Supercenters. 700 volunteers helped to meet the need of school supplies for children all across Northwest Arkansas, McDonald County, Missouri, and Delaware County, Oklahoma.

Organizers say this was one of the most successful years ever. Now, each school bus returns to their local school district where school personnel will distribute the supplies to children in need – on or before the first day of school and throughout the year.

This year's donation efforts were bittersweet for the United Way as they remembered Julie Petree, the United Way Director of Marketing, who passed away in July.
