Wrongly Fired Rogers City Treasurer Returns to Work

ROGERS -- He sued the City of Rogers for wrongful termination and won almost half a million dollars.

Today, Rogers Treasurer Jerry Hudlow returned to his job after being fired by Mayor Greg Hines in May of last year based on the advice of city attorney Ben Lipscomb that he could take that action. However a city ordinance requires a two-thirds city council vote to terminate an appointed treasurer so a judge ordered the city to return Hudlow to his post and pay damages, like lost wages and court costs.

We caught up with Hudlow this morning during his first day back on the job who said, "It's a privilege and a pleasure to be serving the citizens of rogers once again."

We have tried multiple times to get a response from Rogers city leaders asking what action they will take to hold someone responsible for making a mistake that is costing taxpayers around $450,000.

We spoke with city attorney Ben Limpscomb Thursday afternoon, he said he has advised city leaders not to comment on this case pending the expiration of an appeals window.

The opportunity to appeal the judge's decision ends on May 28th.
