LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - - Two new taxes are up for discussion at the Arkansas Legislature that could impact your commute.
The first would allow the Arkansas Highway Department to issue bonds supported by gas taxes paying for construction projects.
The other would tax gasoline and diesel at the state's rate of 6.5%, which is roughly an extra $0.10 - per gallon.
The proposed effort could raise millions of dollars for maintaining state highways, lawmakers said.
A house committee approved the bond bill portion of it on a voice Thursday, but it's still in legislation.
