BENTON COUNTY, AR -- A Benton County judge will swear in a special prosecutor Friday to investigate whether Rogers City Attorney Ben Lipscomb impersonated a police officer.

Rogers Mayor Greg Hines confirms that Crawford County Prosecutor Marc McCune will handle the case.

"We received the complaint and forwarded it to the Benton County Prosecutor," Hines wrote in a statement to KNWA/Fox 24. "An investigation was conducted and the file was sealed awaiting the appointment of a special prosecutor. It would be inappropriate for me to comment any further at this time."

Bob McMahan, director of the Arkansas Prosecutors Coordinator's Office, selected McCune as special prosecutor.

McCune will be sworn in at 10:00 a.m. by Benton County Circuit Judge Brad Karren.

Lipscomb was also recently involved in a lawsuit against the City of Rogers, after he gave the green light to the firing of then-City Treasurer Jerry Hudlow. That lawsuit cost the city more than $630,000. CLICK HERE to read more.
