Let's take a look at this home and break things down. First thing we did was strip the home down to just the basic furniture. We pack away family photos and collections. Then we looked at what we had.
This owner had some great artwork and some large vases. We took the color blue out of this and made it our accent color. Let me show you. Here in the dinning room we had brown floors, a brown table and brown walls with neutral color. We places a rug under the table to separate it from the table. When doing any of this ... less is more. See how clean and simple the table setting looks.
Now we took that blue accent color through the living area. By repeating a color it helps the buyers eye travel through the room. I've seen people use turquoise, reds and even white. White can be a great color and don't be afraid of patterns.
Before showing the home each time,
- Open all the blinds and turn on the lights. A bright home sells.
- Make sure all the beds are made
- Vacuum the floors
I have one client who goes that extra mile. She bakes cookies before each showing and leaves out 4 glasses with a note that the milk is in the fridge. Tell me that won't catch a buyer's attention.
