WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ark. (KNWA) -- One group that helps provide meals for seniors was awarded a grant of $25,000 Wednesday.
Tyson Foods presented the funds to Meals on Wheels of Washington County.
The organization said it's only guaranteed 50 percent of government funding it normally receives.
So the extra money will help it continue to do what the organization does best.
"When we deliver the meals we get to check on these seniors to make sure that they are alright and so that they have somebody to talk to," said Richard Del Soto, director of Elkins Senior Center. "We give them that socialization and just try to serve the seniors all throughout Washington County."
The group also hopes to serve more seniors with the extra funding.
