Yell Co. Deputy Lt. Mainhart Laid To Rest

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (KLRT) - Yell County Sheriff's Officer Lt. Kevin Mainhart was laid to rest Monday afternoon.

Law enforcement officers from far and wide traveled to the River Valley to attend the services.

With a honor guard ceremony, hundreds paid their respects to fallen officer Yell County Deputy Lt. Kevin Mainhart.

Before the honor guard, his funeral was held at the First Assembly of God in Russellville Monday afternoon. Friends, family, and law enforcement officials from across the United State attended the services.

"It was just a good service for people to hear what kind of man Kevin was," said chaplain Chuck Hamilton.

Hamilton is a long time friend of Lt. Mainhart. He says his family and community are mourning.

"He was just a great guy and it's going to be a terrific loss for the community because he was well respected," said Hamilton.

During the service the Yell County Sheriff spoke to the crowd. He said Lt. Mainhart was a standup member of the department.

"Even those that he would give a ticket to still respected him when they saw him. He was just that kind of guy," said Hamilton.

To finish the ceremony, he was giving his final call over the police radio remembering one last time Lt. Kevin Mainhart, a man who died in the line of duty.

"[He was] loved by all the people that worked with him. He was just a great guy," said Hamilton.

State officials, like Governor Asa Hutchinson, was there. New York Police Department, Chicago Police Department, and Aurora Police were at the service paying their respects to Lt. Mainhart.
