RN Recruiting: 4-Star Lineman Simpson on Arkansas' Radar

Fayetteville, AR- All 2018 Recruits in this week's report from Richard Davenport joining us from our KARK Studios in Little Rock.

Here's the transcription:

 Drew Amman

"Back on the Pigtrail show, and talking recruiting now with our recruiting guy. That is Richard Davenport from WholeHogSports and the Arkansas Democrat Gazette. Richard, let's begin with some guys from the 2018 class. In fact, all of these guys are from the class of 2018, an we start with DeMarvion Overshown. He has an offer from Arkansas. He is a safety. Tell me about him a little bit."

Richard Davenport
"You know, when I looked at his video, the first thing I noticed was his size, 6'4, 210 pounds, and just his hitting ability. He will strike you, and I naturally thought of Steve Atwater, and I think a lot of people, after looking at his video think think. Arkansas offered him a week or so ago. Florida State's latest offer. I think he is around 13-14 or 17-18 offers right now. But anyway, Arkansas is definitely high on him, obviously, and he has interest. Number one thing you've got to do is get him on campus, and hopefully they can do that."

Drew Amman
"Robert Cooper, defensive tackle, he has committed, as I understand to Florida State. Is that right?"

Richard Davenport
"That is right. He has ties to the State of Arkansas. His mom is from Forest City. He still has a lot of family members there. He is a perfect fit for Arkansas's new 3-4 defense. 6'3, 354 pounds. Dominating defensive tackle that would just sit obviously really well in the middle of that Arkansas defense. Looks like he may visit in Spring. He mentioned that, as a possibility, but obviously, you've got to continue to build that relationship and hopefully get him on campus, but obviously, having ties to the state of Arkansas is always a plus."

Drew Amman
"Darrell Simpson, let's talk about Kurt Anderson's bunch a little bit, on the O line. Darrell Simpson, a four star guy, and I understand also, this guy has an offer from the Razorbacks."

Richard Davenport
"Yeah he does, and you know, he is working on that relationship with Coach Anderson. A lot of these kids that we are talking about are just in the process of developing relationships with a lot of schools, and Arkansas is one of them. He has a great athletic ability. A guy that definitely is one of the better offensive linemen in the country. He is intrigued by Arkansas's tradition of the offensive line, from the standpoint that Coach Bielema put the starting 5 of the Arkansas 2015 media guide, and also the offensive linemen fly first class. Most of the offensive linemen have never heard of anything like that, so that obviously puts an emphasis on the offensive line."

Drew Amman
"At the tight end spot, we are now talking about Luke Ford. He is from Carterville. He is going to visit on March 13th. That is correct. We talked about him last week. Arkansas is really doing a really good job of recruiting him. He is excellent size. 6'5, 250 pounds. Pretty athletic for a big guy, such as his size. He plays basketball, so obviously that is good for his feet, but to get him on campus for the early part of the recruiting process right after signing day is a big plus. I like Arkansas's chances right here. He really likes the Arkansas tradition at tight end, and just the relationship he has built with the Arkansas coaching staff."

Drew Amman
"We are going to the Nation's Capital now. Mychale Salahuddin, a guy that certainly put on the all name team. Tell me a little about him. He is a running back."

Richard Davenport
"Yeah, I love his video. Very explosive, great top end speed. Arkansas offered him not too long ago, and he is another guy Arkansas is hoping to get on campus. He is intrigued by ESPN. Named in Arkansas running back U a couple years ago, so that automatically gets a kids attention. Especially, when Oklahoma and Alabama are right behind Arkansas, so obviously says something about Arkansas's ability to develop running backs."

Drew Amman
"Alright, again Salahuddin is a 3 star. Alright, again as always, Richard Davenport, thank you very much for your time. That is your recruiting report, and we are back with more after this. We will talk Hog baseball and Dominic Taccolini.
