"We keep either winning or losing those 2-1, one run ballgames" says Junior Joe Serrano.
Friday night, the hogs dropped their 10th one run game this season to the Tigers 2-1. and on Saturday the Hogs took on Auburn in their 6th double header of the season,
"Obviously you don't want to play a double header. It's a long day on your body obviously, it's pretty tough. Mentally it wears you down too so, you just have to be tough though. you've got to grind it out because the other team across the field is doing the same thing." says Sophomore Tyler Spoon.
The Razorbacks split their last SEC double header- this one was no different.
"First win, first game, that was a great win for our team, you know, I mean, we played extra inning ballgame for the first time this year. Got out of a jam there in the top of the 10th, and then found a way to win that game in the bottom of the 10th." says Head Coach Dave Van Horn, "Just the way it all went down I thought the second game we might maybe tie, but I figured we would win the ballgame, just the way that first game ended, and the first three innings we walked two and hit one. Six free passes mixed in with 4 or 5 hits and a pick off that was thrown away, and a double steal play that was botched, you know, all of a sudden we find ourselves down seven runs."
"Wish we would have come out and played the way we did in those last innings in the second game." adds Serrano.
Overall, the Razorback offense underperformed compared to their last home game series- their second lowest scoring series against an SEC opponent.
"We've got 10 games left, 9 conference games and so I told our team we need to finish strong. We need to get after it some how some way. We've got to go on the road for the next four ball games and then we've got three more at home and three more on the road. We'll see what happens." continues Van Horn.
The Hogs take on Missouri State on Tuesday in Springfield, MO. They follow that game up with road series in Oxford against Mississippi.
