Hog Recruiting Including the Latest on U.S. Army All-American Montaric Brown

Here's the transcription from our Recruiting Report with Richard Davenport:

Fayetteville, AR-

Drew Amman
"The Pigtrail rolls on with Richard Davenport from the Arkansas Democrat Gazette and WholeHogSports. RD, as always, bringing it with some recruiting news. RD, let's begin with the RB All American Game, which we saw yesterday, and we all know that Montaric Brown is a safety that Arkansas has been high on, and he will visit OU and Oklahoma State...sounds like it....but what are the latest in terms of that in his recruiting process?"

Richard Davenport
"Well I think he is considering those two visits. If he takes those two visits, it looks like Oklahoma State will be this upcoming weekend, and then he will visit Arkansas on the 20th-22nd, and then Oklahoma the following weekend. It's still kind of up in the air, but we will just have to see how it goes. He has always said Arkansas was his dream school. Usually when you say something like that, it takes something pretty dramatic to change your mind. In the end, I think he is going to be a Razorback. I feel pretty confident saying that, but if he does take those visits which does seem to be up in the air, it's enough to give you an uneasy feeling if you are a Razorback fan, but we will just have to wait and see if they actually do happen."

Drew Amman
"Alright, let's take a look back down the path for Kyrei Fisher. A linebacker, who, at the end of last year committed. What about Kyrei?"

Richard Davenport
"Well you know, he is one of several guys that is going to be enrolling in Arkansas in January, going through offseason and then spring practice. Plays a position in need for Arkansas, because Brooks Ellis is obviously graduating after this season. And he is a guy that is about 6'2, 230. He is really physically put together, but at the same time, he understands that he has some baby fat and he wants to get rid of that, and obviously he is going to try and do that. He wants to get down probably another 10-15 pounds and work his way up to about 230 for next season. He is a very physically gifted linebacker, who one thing that I noticed about him on his video, he hits somebody, he hits the running back, quarterback, whoever, they are usually going backwards. He is very physical, and that is exactly what you need at the linebacker position."

Drew Amman
"Kamren Curl from Muskogee. This kid is an athlete. I believe 4:5:6 speed."

Richard Davenport
"Yes he is very athletic. He has more than 20 offers. Arkansas offered him not too long ago. He was saying that was definitely coming in January the 20th-22nd weekend for an official visit. He was also looking at Ole Miss and Texas, also this month. Last time I talked to him, everything was kind of up in the air , as far as those dates. We will just have to wait and see. I do think in the end, he will probably end up visiting Arkansas . Arkansas is recruiting him as a cornerback. A very, very gifted athlete."

Drew Amman
"Again the dead period ends on Wednesday. Coaches on the road on Thursday. About 3 or 4 more spots left in recruiting for Arkansas. And Richard, let's switch gears. Talk a little basketball 2018, Sharone Wright... Arkansas  Assistant Coach Scotty Thurman recently attended one of his games."

Richard Davenport
"Yeah, December the 30th, he did, and his team was playing in a tournament and he was the MVP. Coach Thurman was there, and I think that really emphasized to him that Arkansas was definitely wanting him to be a part of the program. He is a very gifted guy that could be more of a combo guard. Plays at point, but he is 6'5, his dad played in the NBA. He is 6'11, his mom is 5'11, so he thinks he could grow another 2 to 3 inches and you add his athleticism and his skill set right now, and just add a couple more inches to his height. You've got something special, and he is already pretty special right now,. but you get a 6'7-6'8 guard, that is pure matchup issues there for the opponent."

Drew Amman
"Yeah, really on paper things look pretty good. A lot of excitement surrounding Arkansas basketball recruiting at this point. Richard Davenport from WholeHogSports and the Arkansas Democrat Gazette. The Pigtrail rolls on after this, as we talk about Arkansas top football plays from 2016."
