FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas women’s golfers Gabriela Lopez and incoming freshman Jordy LaBarbera were eliminated in their first matches in the round of 64 at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Thursday.
Lopez fell 2-down to Hannah O’Sullivan in a match that was all square through 16 holes.  The players were even for the first two holes before Lopez won hole three.  She moved to 2-up winning the fourth hole and held that lead through the eighth hole.
Lopez lost the eighth hole but maintained the lead until her opponent squared the match on the 14th hole.  The players were even through 16 before O’Sullivan won the 17th hole and hung on for the lead.
LaBarbera fell 3 & 2 to Ember Schuldt. It was another close match with the players square through five holes.  Schuldt won the sixth hole and a back-and-fourth battle ensued.  Schuldt won 11, 12 and 14 eventually winning the match.
