RN Recruiting: Future Hogs on Display in Real Deal in the Rock

Fayetteville, AR-

Drew Amman

"Back on the Pig Trail, and we are talking recruiting now with our recruiting guy. That is, as always, Richard Davenport from the Arkansas Democrat Gazette and WholeHogSports. RD, let's begin with a couple of guys in football that just committed to the Hogs a couple of weeks ago. Luke Ford, a tight end, from Carterville, Illinois. Didn't feel like his visit started well, but it ended, certainly the way the Razorbacks wanted it to. Right?"

Richard Davenport

"Yeah, I mean he is a great pickup. He was the number one guy on the board at the tight end position, and 6'7", 250 pounds. Very good athleticism. That kid is really just blowing up. He already is at 20 offers. He was probably heading towards 30-40 offers, until he committed to Arkansas. He's very, very solid, and I think a lot of schools are going to back off of him, and realize that he is definitely going to Fayetteville."

Drew Amman

"Also, committing to the Hogs is a defensive back, that is Byron Hanspard from Texas. He thought about committing to the Hogs on the weekend when Arkansas beat Florida last fall. What's the deal with Byron, and how much he's in love with the Hogs? Certainly a good thing, since he is already committed."

Richard Davenport

"Yeah, well he was solo. He was with some friends when he visited for the Florida game, and obviously he talked to his mom. His mom was telling him to let, you know, her and her husband make it up to Fayetteville with him for the trip, and just go from there. Obviously they made that trip a couple of weeks ago, and he pulled the trigger the next day. His mom and dad are totally on board with his decision. Felt very, very comfortable with the coaching staff and the academic structure at  Arkansas, and how Coach Bielema puts a premium on academics. Both of these guys, Byron and Luke, are definitely top prospects at their positions, and you've got four of the better prospects in the nation committed right now."

Drew Amman

"Let's go from football to hoops now. And the number 2 ranked prospect in the 2018 class, it is Zion Williamson, and Zion is just outstanding. A guy who is very physical. Who can also step out and hit the three."

Richard Davenport

"No doubt. He is 6'7", 230. He's a guy who a lot of people compare to LeBron James, and I don't think a lot of people were saying that very lightly. He is that talented. He moves like a guard. He dribbles like a guard. He does a lot of things that you just don't see for a guy his size, and he could be the next great player in the next generation. He'll be playing at Real Deal, in the Rock on Saturday and Sunday. A great opportunity for fans to see a guy that could be the next big thing."

Drew Amman

"And perfect segue right there from RD, as we are talking about the Real Deal in the Rock right now, and 5 guys (Reggie Perry, Ethan Henderson, Desi Sills, Isaiah Joe, and Justice Hill) who are committed to the Hogs. We are talking about the Arkansas Hawks, and it is going to be a great opportunity for fans to see them coming up on Friday."

Richard Davenport

"Yeah, I suspect you'll see the place packed with Arkansas fans. This is going to be the first time that fans are able to see them since all of them committed to the Razorbacks. This is also going to be the first time that they play this Spring , since last July when they were in Vegas together, so it's kind of a reunion for those guys. Definitely a lot to be excited about. You're going to be able to see a lot of the future Razorbacks in one place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday."

Drew Amman

"As for a 2018 forward, that is a guy from Houston, Texas. That is DJ Weaver."

Richard Davenport

"I love DJ. Good gosh. He is a very athletic forward out of Houston. He is playing with the Hawks this Spring and Summer. He is very high on Arkansas. He got an offer from Anderson back during the summer when he visited, and he just feels a part of the Hawks right now. Even though he hasn't played in a game. Very, very talented 6'8" guy that can really get up and down the floor, and is very skilled."

Drew Amman

"Let's go all the way to Rochester, Minnesota, and talk about a 6'8" power forward, that is Matthew Hurt. He is a part of the class of 2019."

Richard Davenport

"Hey, he is another guy that is going to be playing at the Real Deal in the Rock. Definitely one of the top prospects in his classification, which is 2019. He is 6'9", about 205-210 pounds. Bill Ingram who obviously is the founder and organizer of Real Deal in the Rock and Arkansas Hawks says that he reminds them of Larry Bird. He calls him LBJ. Larry Bird Junior, so here is a guy that obviously has a lot of skills, and I think that he is another guy that fans will enjoy watching."

Drew Amman

"We are throwing out some big time names in this recruiting report. RD, let's talk about Chris Moore to close. He is from the class of 2020. He has attended an Arkansas elite camp, and he is from West Memphis."

Richard Davenport

"Yeah, he is a guy that is very talented. 6'6", about 210 pounds. Plays for the Arkansas Wings. 15 and under team, who will also be playing for Real Deal in the Rock. A great opportunity for fans to be able to see him, and several of the other Arkansas Wings team too. So it's going to be a great, great weekend in Little Rock."

Drew Amman

"Good stuff from RD, as always. Arkansas Democrat Gazette and WholeHogSports, that's where you can read his stuff, and the whole crew is back with a football roundtable, after this."
