"Texas" Razorback Recruits Highlight Recruiting Report with Richard Davenport

In this week's recruiting report with Richard Davenport our recruiting analyst breaks down several Razorback Football recruits from the state of Texas. Richard spent the week in the Dallas-Fort Worth area talking to Hog recruits and commits about their thoughts on the Arkansas Football team.  Hear from Richard on five recruits in this recruiting report.

Here is the transcript of the recruiting report:

Tera Talmadge "Welcome back to the Pig Trail it is time for our recruiting report. Richard Davenport joining us now with the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and Whole Hog Sports. Let's start with a guy out of Desoto, Texas. Byron Hanspard,6-1, 188, and runs a 4.44 40 yard dash pretty impressive.

Richard Davenport " Yeah I'll tell you what's even more impressive is him as an individual. It's that, down in Dallas Fort Worth Tuesday through yesterday and went by several schools and went by and talked to Byron, his head coach and his mom and father. He is a natural leader on and off the field. He's a guy that will be a future leader on the Razorback team. He's a very very charismatic individual and just rally has his stuff together for a young man his age. I think Arkansas fans are going to enjoy seeing him out on the field and also getting to know him off the field. He's definitely one of the better prospects in the Dallas-Fort Worth area athletically."

Tera " And another guy Jalen Catalon, 5-10, 180 safety. A 2019 recruit correct?"

Richard "Yeah and I tell you what, I watch a lot of film and he may have on of the most impressive films I've seen for a safety in a long time. He had 196 tackles as a sophomore. He had ten interceptions. He's just a natural guy as far as instincts. It's almost like he knows what the play is before it develops and that obviously helps him. He's very sudden, very quick to the ball. Definitely one of the top prospects in the nation in the 2019 class. Arkansas offered him September 1, and he looks to visit Arkansas maybe for a game this year or maybe next summer."

Tera " Marquez Beason, he is a highly regarded wide receiver, 5-11, 175, what can you tell me about him?"

Richard " He's another top prospect in the 2019 class. He's currently got a top 12, Arkansas is in the top 12. He plans to maybe narrow it down to the top six, probably midseason or after the season. He told me there's a very good possibility Arkansas makes the cut. He's a close friend with Chevin Calloway, obviously already on campus. He knows Rawleigh Williams and his family so there's a lot of good strong ties for Arkansas. Definitely one of the fastest prospects in the state of Texas. He ran a 10.72 in the Spring in the 100 meters."

Tera " Brian Williams just cut down his list to top 6, Arkansas is in there. Who else is also in that list?"

Richard " You got Nebraska, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Texas and Stanford are the other schools. I always felt good about Arkansas' chances of making the cut. I had him on my radio show not too long ago and he said  whenever he's in fayetteville it feels like home. So obviously he feels very comfortable there, he's got a good relationship with the coaching staff. And obviously with his brother being on campus and seeing behind the scenes, and interaction with the coaches and players I think he understands that he'd be well taken care of if he chose to be a Razorback."

Tera" Now just a quick note on this Maureese Wren decommitted. What happened there?"

Richard " I sat down with him Wednesday. He plays mostly receiver for Mesquite Horn and Arkansas was recruiting him as an outside linebacker. Did say they definitely might want to see him as a red zone receiver but in talking to him I could see that he really wants to stay at receiver. And when trying to pen him down of whether he could not play receiver in college or not it was hard for him to say no. That he still wants to play receiver and obviously that's the reason he chose to decommit."

Tera" Richard Davenport with the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and Whole Hog Sports thank you so much for joining us today. We'll have more on the pig trail after the break."
