SOCHI, Russia --Three-time Olympian Emily Cook landed the top result for the USA in eighth Friday night during her final Olympic appearance at the women’s aerials event of the 2014 Winter Games.

Cook advanced to the second, eight-person final, where she notched the best Olympic result of her career after an 11th in Vancouver and 19th in Torino.

“Obviously I came here to win a medal and bring one home for Team USA, but I’m definitely trying right now to just take a moment and think about this whole career. It’s been amazing and it’s something I’m very proud of. I’m incredibly honored to be here representing Team USA. I’ve been jumping awesome and I’m happy. I’m excited for the next adventure, “ said Cook.

Alla Tsuper of Belarus went on to earn the gold medal ahead of 2010 Olympic champion Mengtao Xu of China, who settled for silver.
