Exclusive Interview: Sage Kotsenberg After Winning Gold

SOCHI, RUSSI -- KNWA's Tim Kelchner sits down with snowboarder Sage Kotsenberg after winning the first gold medal of the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Sage Kotsenburg calls it, "The Holy Crail" the rest of the world knows it as the trick that landed him the first Gold Medal in Sochi. Tim Kelchner sits down with the Slopestyle Snowboard champ to talk about his golden day:

Q: Sage, you said it was a dream, has that dream set in, is it a reality that you're the 1st Gold medalist on the 2014 Winter Olympics?

A: Yeah it's still a dream, it didn't hit me until I was at the top of the podium at the medal ceremony next my best friends in snowboarding, they looked to me and said, 'My knees are shaking,' and I said, 'Me too, this is insane' ….that really hit and it's been a whirlwind of craziness all day.

Q: Can you compare it to anything that comes close?

A: It all feels surreal. Some people work their whole lives for this, and I kind of just showed up and got it. So I think I won the best of both worlds. Just went out there and snowboarded, love snowboarding. It's what I do and I have doing it, so to bring home Gold is pretty cool.

Q: You're only 20 years old, where do you go from here?

A: I peaked so I should just quit and drop out. 1 or 2 more contests this year, but I want to do a film trip and trying filming a video part.
