We salute Alonzo J. Flowers !

Alonzo was from Perry, Florida and served in the Army from 1941-1945 during World War II. He was nominated by his granddaughter Sandra Rachelle Amerson who says he was a half-track truck operator in Africa and Germany.

Sandra write that Alonzo was shot while serving and was awarded a Purple Heart. "I'm so proud of him."

We salute Lance Corporal Jeff Boldt!

Jeff is from Bentonville, AR and is serving with the 1st Battalion 7th Marine Corp Charlie Company out of California. This is his 3rd year with the Corp and he has served two deployments to Afghanistan.

Jeff's mother, Kim Schneider nominated him for our series.  She writes, "He wanted to be a Marine since he was fourteen-years-old. He graduated early from Gravette High School just so he could go to boot camp early. He just turned 21 over there!"

We salute Helen and Ed Trygar!

Helen and Ed served in the U.S. Navy during World War II Their daughter Pat nominated the Lowell couple and tells us Ed went on to serve 24 years in the Navy. Helen got out after the war and raised five kids!


We salute Michael Brence!

Michael is a Petty Officer 2nd Class from Poteau, Oklahoma. He joined in 2008 and currently serves as an Aviation Electrician for the U.S. Navy at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma.  He's also a proud husband and father of two young children.

Micheal was nominated by his sister, Lisa - who just happens be the assistant news director here at KNWA.
