LITTLE ROCK, AR — Families receiving state help to care for foster kids will have to wait a little longer for their next check. According to the Department of Human Services, there will be no foster or adoption subsidy checks mailed out in July. DHS sent a letter to the affected families explaining the change. Reps say it’s necessary to get the monthly payments on a new cycle, which will prevent overpayment on the front end for families that don’t keep foster children for a full month. That will save the state some money. Families will receive their July checks in August.
