Every month, KNWA & Post Consumer Brand come together to choose a teacher in Northwest Arkansas who’s “Making Better Happen” in and out of the classroom.
For October, we selected Gravette High School Assistant Band Director, Mark Hendrick. He’s been involved in both the Senior High and Junior Bands for over six years. He’s married to a teacher at Gravette High School and the couple has two daughters.

He made our band into a family and we can’t help but smile when he helps us to be our best. Please help us honor him and his great work he does. Thanks.:)”

“I would like Mr. Hendrick to win this award because he’s been an amazing teacher. He is always willing to help. His help has made me a better trumpet player and marcher. He was my middle school band director and helps my high school band director now. Even when he had a family emergency, he still wanted to be there for us and help us; our high school director had to talk him out of coming. I feel that he is very deserving of this award.”
“Mr.Hendrick goes above and beyond his role as a teacher. My daughter adores him very patient with the students.makes class fun.”
“Mark Hendrick is a dedicated Band Director. My daughter began band in 6th grade with little to no real interest in Marching Band. However, due to the dedication of Mr. Hendrick and the Gravette Band Department, now a freshman, she continues in band having moved from clarinet to percussion. Mr. Hendrick is mindful of each students’ potential and is excellent at drawing out their creativity and commitment. He works regular school hours plus many additional hours to ensure the success of our students’ efforts and for that I believe he is well deserving of this award.”

He us always pushing them to be better in their core subject classes and makes sure they get the help the they need to succeed. He is also willing to help the parents out if needed. He has personally picked up my son for practice during summer when I was working. He is just a stand up man.”
