KNWA Today: Celebrating Diversity In Education

The Northwest Arkansas Democratic Black Caucus presents the fifth annual Barack Obama Celebrating Diversity and in Education scholarship banquet. 

The event will take place on Saturday, April 22 at the Fayetteville Country Club. VIP reception event will begin at 6:00 p.m., with the event starting at 7:00 p.m.

The banquet’s proceeds will go to minority Political Science students at the University of Arkansas.

Mireya Rieth, Chair of the Arkansas Department of Education will be the keynote speaker. Seven dignitaries will be honored: 

Chancellor David Gearhart: Professor   of   Higher   Education,   University   of Arkansas, College of Education and Health Professions

Dr.  Erica  Holliday:  Associate  Professor  of  Computer  Information  Systems, Northwest Arkansas Community College

Dr.  Claretha  Hughes:  Associate  Professor  of  Human  Resource  &  Workforce Development,   University   of  Arkansas,   College   of   Education   and   Health Professions

Dr.  Charlene  Johnson-Carter: Associate  Professor  of  Middle  Level  Education, University of Arkansas, College of Education and Health Professions

Stacy Leeds: Dean of Law, University of Arkansas, School of Law

Aterra Lowe: 5th Grade Teacher, Bentonville Public Schools

Dr. Todd Shields: Dean, University of Arkansas, J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences
