Opening Day of the Rogers Farmers Market

It’s opening day of the downtown Rogers Farmers Market. The market will feature seasonal fruits and vegetables, baked goods and other prepared food items, and a variety of crafts. We will also have specialty food trucks, cooking demonstrations, and live music. The market will be open on Saturdays from 8 :00 a.m.-1:00 p.m, May thru October. 

25th Annual Dogwood Walk

The 25th annual, Dogwood Walk happening Saturday, May 6 at Gulley Park in Fayetteville. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m., a dog contest at 10:00 a.m. and the family fun walk at 11:00 a.m.  Registration is $20 for HSO members, $25 for non-members. Kids 5 and under get in for free. Proceeds go toward the Humane Society of the Ozarks. For more information, click HERE.

Comic Book Day At The Bentonville Public Library

The Bentonville Public Library for our 5th annual Free Comic Book Day is Saturday, May 6 beginning at 11:00 a.m., Free Comic Book Day. The Free Comic Book giveaway begins at 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. while supplies last.  

At 11:00 a.m., Game Master Scott Odom will be teaching participants how to host a tabletop role playing game.

Three events happening at 1:00 p.m. Odom will return to host the RPG Shadowrun: Food Fight and you can become a master of commerce playing Panic on Wall Street, hosted by Charles Wright. And you can learn how to make chainmaille. Chris Hartley will teach you how to make your very own chainmaille bracelet. All supplies will be provided and spaces are limited.

Kids can practice their superpowers at the Superhero Training Camp beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the Children’s department. At 2:00 p.m., families can enjoy Superhero Storytime in the Walmart Community Room!

Author and musician Lourds Lane will help everyone discover their inner superhero. Lane is the book, music, and lyrics writer of the Broadway-bound musical, “Chix 6”-a story about a female comic book artist who learns how to love herself with the help of her own super heroine creations!  Lane will read her new book, ‘My Crayon Superheroes’ at 2:30 p.m.

At 3:00 p.m., all ages are invited to ‘The Superhero is YOU!’ with Lourds Lane! Everyone walks away feeling EMPOWERED like a superhero!

11th Annual, “Touch-A-Truck” Event

The Junior League of Northwest Arkansas will host the 11th Annual ‘Touch-a-Truck event on Saturday, May 6, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the south side of the Promenade Mall Parking Lot in Rogers. This springtime family festival will be kid-friendly and a full-on-fun for all ages. 
 
This year’s Touch-a-Truck will feature over fifty vehicles that kids can explore. Vehicles you can expect to see include: construction equipment, safety and transportation vehicles, motorcycles, tractors, and much more.  There will also be special appearances and activities including mascots, costumed characters, and building projects, just to name a few. In addition to equipment, vehicles, and entertainment, there will be concessions offering lunch, refreshments, shaved ice and all the tasty treats you would expect to find at a family-fun event. (Kona Ice and Nothing Bundt Cakes.)
 
Tickets are just $5 each or $20 per family (max 5 guests per family ticket.)  Children under one are free.

Back 40 Trail Clean-up In Bella Vista
 
The Back 40 trails remain closed at this time due to the recent rains. In an effort to repair damage and control springtime vegetation, the City of Bella Vista will host a city-organized volunteer trails maintenance day starting at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 6.
 
Volunteers will meet at the Lake Ann trailhead off Trafalgar Road on Castleford Drive. Participants of any ability are welcome, and families are encouraged to bring their children and get involved in their local trail system management.
 
Participants should bring tools if they have any available. Tools that would be useful include weed eaters, loppers, rakes, hoes, etc. Participants should also bring water, sunscreen and insect repellent.
 
The NWA Trailblazers will provide breakfast to participants. For those planning to attend, click HERE. You have to register by Friday afternoon so an accurate head count for food.
 
National Bike Month In Fayetteville
 
Every Saturday in May(6, 13, 20, 27) – Bike Month Booth at the Fayetteville Farmers’ Market. Folks can stop by for free bike maintenance, bike education, and free water bottles.
 
For the entire month of May, riders are encouraged to sign up for the National Bike Challenge. Miles ridden, calories burned, dollars saved, and amount of CO2 reduced will be tallied for each rider and for the entire community.
