FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) — UPDATE: Two people have been arrested who were involved in a police standoff at Lakeside Village Apartments in Fayetteville, according to law enforcement who are at the scene. Police used tear gas and cell phone to diffuse the situation that began around 9 a.m., Friday, Sept. 6.

Police confirm that one person who was in the apartment is the same person involved in a drive-by shooting near Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. on Thursday night, Sept. 5.

Students who ride the bus to Greens Lakeside Apartments are held at school because of a police situation. Parents will need to pick up students, according to Fayetteville Schools PIO Alan Wilbourn. Three Fayetteville school bus routes are impacted.


Police are at Lakeside Village Apartments in Fayetteville for a barricaded suspect.

Three children were inside the apartment and were safely evacuated from the apartment after being inside for several hours during the standoff, according to police.

According to Corporal Dallas Brashears, SWAT are on scene at the apartments on Club Drive trying to get a barricaded subject out of an apartment.

At this point, no injuries have been reported.

Cpl. Brashears says this is related to the shooting from the vehicle that occurred last night in Fayetteville.

Police confirm there are other occupants inside the apartment. Police are working to negotiate with the man held up inside to release the additional occupants and surrender.

Police have a crisis response team on scene. 

Springdale Police are assisting with the situation.

Sgt. Tony Murphy with Fayetteville Police says they are closing down Club Drive. No traffic will be allowed in.
