Medical marijuana dispensary approved to do business in Fayetteville

Fayetteville's first medical marijuana dispensary could open by this weekend

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) — Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) provided Acanza a formal approval to open for business.

The medical marijuana dispensary’s owner(s) may now determine when to open, according to ABC.

“Acanza medical marijuana dispensary will have its official opening this Saturday from 10 am-9pm!!! And will be open Sunday from 10am-8pm,” according to Acanza’s Facebook page.

The ABC inspected Acanza last week, but there were a few items that needed to be finalized before its final approval on Wednesday.

“Northwest Arkansas is somewhere we wanted to be. They are seeing so much growth and potential here, so we wanted to part of that. Being a home here in Fayetteville is something we are excited for…down the street from the university and just a lot of things going on in this area,” says Tom Mayes, Operational Consultant for Acanza.

Mayes says this whole process started at the end of 2017, and the dispensary broke ground in June.

Last minute staff training is happening right now and the inventory process has started.

Mayes does want to remind people that in order to get in, patients need a medical marijuana card or caregiver card.

No one else allowed in the facility, even the waiting room is a limited access area.

The dispensary is located on McConnell Avenue near the Washington County Fairgrounds.
