Nonprofit wants to get families in the Halloween spirit

FORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA) — You and your family can get in the Halloween spirit while supporting a good cause.

The Fort Smith Boys & Girls Club serves over 3000 kids, ages 6 to 18 in the River Valley.

During Halloween season, the nonprofit hosts a haunted house to raise money to help the club in different ways; from building and maintaining programs to keeping up the facility.

Director of operations for the club, Jason Morland said this fundraiser is important because it’s a way to give kids a fun, safe place to go where they can find a supportive community of peers and mentors.

“As you go through life and you get older there’s forks in your road,” Morland said. “And you can go down one or you can go down the other. But if you have somebody positive in your life that’s helping to lead you the right way, it’s very important.”

The fundraiser raised over $40,000 in 2017 and Moreland said they hope they raise even more this year.

The No Mercy House will be open on Fridays and Saturdays until November 2 at 114 North 14th Street in Fort Smith. For tickets and dates, click here.
