State Police Trooper involved in crash during overnight chase

Interstate 49 Northbound, Near Johnson

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ark. (KNWA) — Arkansas State Police report seven juveniles were taken into custody on January 23rd, after leading an ASP trooper on an early morning chase following a traffic stop, ending in a crash along I-49 near Johnson.

According to Fayetteville Police Dispatch, the chase started around 2:30 a.m., as the driver of an SUV carrying the seven suspects refused to stop. The ASP trooper used a PIT maneuver to stop the SUV and as the trooper was speaking with the suspects, another vehicle then crashed into the trooper’s patrol cruiser.

ASP reports some of those involved were treated on the scene for minor injuries. At last check, it’s unclear if the driver or passengers of the SUV will face any charges.
