Students Shop for Books with General Mills Reading Buddies

ROGERS — Elementary students went shopping for their favorite books Thursday with volunteers from General Mills.

Through the General Mills Reading Buddies program, employees head to local schools to read with students once a month. Twice a year, General Mills donates books to the kids as well.

Students from Jones Elementary had $28 each to spend at Barnes and Noble on books to read over the summer.

“We think it really helps encourage them to practice reading, it reinforces that reading is fun and it also is a great mentorship opportunity for the students,” says Emily Dargan, a General Mills Reading Buddy.

This is the thirteenth year for the General Mills Reading Buddies program.
