April is designated as “Move More Month” and we are partnering with the American Heart Association to get you up and moving, the right way. Here are some simple guidelines to live a healthier lifestyle —
- Put in at least 2 1/2 hours per week of moderate activity like gardening, swimming laps, and hiking uphill.
- Or 75 minutes a week of an active workout
- Get up and move! Spend less time sitting even a light workout can go a long way.
- And increase the time spent exercising and the intensity of your workout gradually over time.
Happening now in honor of Earth Day, the University of Arkansas is hosting Earth Week events. The U of A’s Office of Sustainability will have fun activities and live music throughout the day including a lecture on sustainability. The university isn’t stopping there, activities are planned through Thursday to celebrate the Earth. Click here for more.
Another way you can participate in Earth Day is to join a trail clean up. From 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. you can help clean up a section of the Scull Creek Trail. You’re invited to meet up at Fossil Cove Brewery for the clean up. everything you need will be provided. Of course, there will be drink specials all day for anyone participating in the clean up. Here’s another way to give back to the community, Bentonville Follies is looking for volunteers for this year’s event. You’re invited to a planning session at 6:30 p.m. in Rogers at the Johnson & Johnson building. The Bentonville Follies is a charity event and drag show that raises money for deserving non profits in NWA. For more information click here.
