Kicking things off with what could be the most expensive divorce in history. Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos and his wife Mackenzie are getting a divorce after 25 years of marriage. Bezos and his soon-to-be ex made the announcement in a joint statement on Bezos’ Twitter account. The statement said the decision was made after “a long period of loving exploration and trial separation.” Bezos who also owns the Washington Post has become the world’s richest man.
High in the Italian alps, an American musician has created an Ice Music Festival using instruments carved from blocks of ice. Over 60 concerts have been organized throughout the winter season in the theater, which seats 200, is inside an igloo on top of a glacier. There’s no “warming up” for these musicians and the audience has to be willing to endure freezing temperatures to watch the show. It took the founder three months to make sixteen instruments for the performances ranging from bongos to guitars to violins.
It’s National Save the Eagles Day! Efforts to save America’s national animal, the bald eagle, have achieved results. The bald eagle was removed from the endangered species list in 2007. However, there are upwards of 70 species of eagles worldwide and some of them remain endangered. Fun fact, the one place in the world where eagles do not live…Hawaii.
