It was a quiet weekend at the box office. “Ralph Breaks the Internet” was number one in theaters over the weekend. Disney’s animated sequel to “Wreck-It Ralph” earned $16.2 million. “The Grinch” came in at number two. Universal’s latest remake of the Christmas classic made just over $15.2 million. Rounding out the top three, “Creed II” with $10.3 million over the weekend.
Anticipation is high for Marvel’s upcoming film, “Avengers: Endgame.” So much so it set a world record for the most viewed trailer! Since its release Friday across YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, it has been viewed online more than 289 million times in 24 hours. “Endgame” will be the fourth avengers movie and a sequel to “Infinity War” and it set to hit theaters next April.
Superheroes dominate the box office, and, as it turns out, Twitter! Marvel’s “Black Panther” leads the pack on Twitter’s most tweeted-about movies of 2018. “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Incredibles II” follow.
Nominations for the 61st annual Grammy awards have been announced. Rap artists Kendrick Lamar and Drake racked up the most nominations. Lamar received eight nods while Drake collected seven. Female artists dominated top categories this year. Singer Brandi Carlile received six nominations. Singer ‘Her’ was nominated for best R&B Album, Album of the Year and Best New Artist. The 61st Grammy awards ceremony is expected to take place February 10th.
