Two local ladies dreams are coming true on the big stage. “Waitress” kicks off at the Walton Arts Center Tuesday, April 9. It’s the story of Jenna who bakes her way into a contest and cooks up a recipe for romance. Each tour market of the show casts local leading ladies for the role of Lulu, Jenna’s daughter.
Watch as we talk to Dahlia “Dovie” Allen and Vivienne “Vivi” Simmons, who will play Lulu during the NWA tour. Have they always wanted to be an actress? What made them want to audition and what was their reaction when they learned they were chosen? We ask those questions and more.
Dovie is a spunky 5-year-old who loves fun and adventure. She is the seventh of eight children, and is excited to follow in the theatre footsteps of her daddy and older sister. Vivienne is excited for her theatrical debut as Lulu. Off stage, she can be found flitting about in fairy wings, whipping up “recipes” in her play kitchen.
You can catch Dovie and Vivi at the Walton Arts Center through Sunday. Tickets for “Waitress” start at $38 and can be purchased here. Showtimes vary.
