FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KFTA) — Northwest Arkansas will soon be featured on a hit television series as the backdrop of the third season of HBO’s “True Detective.”
An advance screening of the season’s first episode was held Friday night on the University of Arkansas campus.
Excitement was high as the creators and cast of true detective walked the red carpet.
“This is one my favorite places, I think its a really special part of the country. I’m really looking forward to showing it off to the rest of the country in this series,” series creator Nic Pizzolatto said.
Pizzolatto brought the production to the natural state, hiring many local performers.
“Really hard working people, good humor, naturally friendly, good company and really great to work with,” he said.
A chance to show off the local scenery.
“A lot of people are going to see this and say, wow, we had a completely different idea of what Arkansas looks like,” Executive Producer Scott Stephens said.
Governor Asa Hutchinson — emphasizing this opportunity is only the start.
“It’s about our art scene here in the state, its about the film industry, and we hope this is the start to more,” Hutchinson said.
Season 3 of True Detective will premiere Sunday, January 13th, on HBO.
