Attorney General Leslie Rutledge warns residents affected by flooding that insurance scam artists may try to take advantage of homeowners during this difficult time.
With flooding being one of the more common types of natural disasters, it can happen anywhere at any time.
Flood insurance helps cover some costs that come with it.
Attorney General Rutledge said scam artists can use these incidents as an opportunity to steal money from people in need.
Jordan Greer, CEO of G & G Independent Insurance in Fayetteville said people in the River Valley shouldn’t believe anyone who tries to sell coverage for flooding happening right now.
“If you already have a flooding event happening, you are never going to be able to buy flood insurance during that flooding event,” Greer said. “That is something you would have had to purchase prior to that.”
Greer went on to say that it is important to be prepared and that homeowner will be able to get coverage in the future.
