Arkansas Baptist State Convention Hosts Sexual Abuse Awareness Training

The Arkansas Baptist State Convention hosted a sexual abuse awareness training on Monday at Cross Church.

Specialists from ministry safe taught a five-part safety system for those who attended, which included participants learning how to recognize the offender’s grooming process, how to respond to reports of abuse and how to properly screen prospective staff members and volunteers for high-risk candidates.

“We wanna thank, you know, Cross Church for partnering with us on this and allowing Ministry Safe to come in so that we can help train our churches, train leaders so that they can be proactive in making sure they’re protecting children and students that are in their care,” said Emily Smith with Arkansas Baptist State Convention

Smith is a children’s specialist with the Arkansas Baptist State Convention. She said the group is working with churches in Arkansas to take a more proactive approach when it comes to keeping children safe.
