Miracles are being made in the lives of children every day thanks to Arkansas Children’s Northwest. Arkansas Children’s Northwest celebrated its one year anniversary on Wednesday, February 27.
While reflecting on the past, staff and patients are looking forward to more miracles to come.
It’s been a long journey for Michael Hollingsworth and his daughter Sarah. Sarah has been battling leukemia since 2017.
“You’re kind of feeling like we’re all alone but these people here make sure that you know you’re not,” said Michael Hollingsworth.
Arkansas Children’s Northwest has changed their lives for the better by giving them a safe haven closer to home.
“Man, you talk about the grind. Getting back and forth to Little Rock. Once a week, get up at 4 o’clock in the morning, stay there all day, get back at night,” said Hollingsworth.
It’s an impact that ACNW Chief Administrator Trisha Montague is proud of.
“Being able to look back and see all the children we’ve been able to provide service for and take care of and families we’ve been able to help. It’s just an amazing day for us,” said Montague.
It’s not only top-notch health care the hospital is providing but also a comforting place for children to fight their bravest fight.
“Right here is Arvest ballpark, this is our family room. On Friday nights when the ball team is here, look at the view we have of the fireworks display!” said Hollingsworth.
ACNW has touched the lives of 37,000 patients in the last year. The hospital plans to continue expanding programs and has recruited a pediatric endocrinologist who will start next summer.
“It’s all about the children there, right? And what a great thing to be involved in? Making a difference for children and their families,” said Montague.
With the worst behind them, the Hollingsworth’s are looking forward to celebrating a miracle at ACNW.
“She’ll get to the ring the customary bell that they have in the hospital for kids who get through it,” said Hollingsworth.
