Arkansas Legislators Speak Out About Affordable Care Act

FOX24

Members of the Arkansas State Government are speaking out about the Affordable Care Act after a Federal judge in Texas ruled the individual coverage mandate within the Affordable Care Act is unconstitutional.

Asa Hutchinson took to Twitter saying, “At this time there is no impact on Arkansas Works and the coverage will continue.”

He also said, “The court decision is a clarion call for more long term thinking on healthcare.”

Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge also applauded U.S. District Court Judge Reed O’Connor of Texas for agreeing with Arkansas that the Affordable Care Act and its individual mandate are unconstitutional.

She said, “The ruling is a big win for Arkansas. Without the individual mandate in place, Obamacare cannot be upheld and is unconstitutional.”

She adds, “Now, it is time for Congress to increase options, lower costs, and protect those with pre-existing conditions.”
