Filmmakers dreams are coming true at the Bentonville Film Festival, and one film is using its platform to find a cure for a major medical mystery.

The film “Any One Of Us” brings to life the true story of how a mountain biker made his way back to cycling after becoming paralyzed.

The cast and crew aren’t just taking the inspiring story to the big screen, but are using it to help find a cure for spinal cord injuries.

All proceeds from the film will go to the Wings for Life Foundation to help fund research and clinical trials.

With intense therapy and determination Paul Basagoitia, the inspiration for the film, can now walk again.

He says not only does he want to inspire others to take life’s hardest challenges head-on, but he also wants to help provide a miracle for someone like him.

“I deal with this injury on a daily basis, so if in my lifetime we can find a cure that would be so huge. And if I had a little bit of involvement to find that cure is the biggest accomplishment I could think of,” says Basagoitia.

“I’ve been making films for 20 years, I’ve never been part of that, never had that opportunity. So that in and of itself is something that we’re all really proud of,” says Fernando Villena, Filmmaker.

The film had its first screening Friday afternoon, May 10, and will run again Saturday morning, May 11.

Both screenings of “Any One of Us” are sold out, but if you would like to see the film you can wait in the standby line beforehand for the chance to get in.
