A reception was held in Springdale honoring John Tyson and Joe Steele as the newest members of the Arkansas Business Hall of Fame.
The two business leaders will be posthumously inducted into the Hall of Fame at a banquet next month in Little Rock.
Tyson is well known as the father of Tyson Foods and Steele the owner of one of the nation’s most successful canning companies.
“This will be the eighth and ninth honoree since 1999. This will be the eighth and ninth honoree from Spingdale. That number is number two in the state, only behind Central Arkansas and Little Rock, but when you look at the business community of Springdale, it’s not surprising that we would have those strong leaders,” said Perry Webb, president and chief executive officer of the Springdale Chamber of Commerce.
Another Tyson — Don J. Tyson — was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2000.
