Candidates Campaign Over Holiday

Labor Day was a busy day on the campaign trail for Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump and their running mates.

Labor Day traditionally marks the beginning of the end for the election season. The two presidential nominees are working hard for votes in the Buckeye state of Ohio. Clinton appeared at a rally with running mate Tim Kaine in Cleveland, where she accused Trump of being unable to visit a foreign nation without getting into a “public feud.” Meanwhile, Trump was joined by his running mate, Indiana Governor Mike Pence, as he met with a variety of Union representatives. Trump told the Union reps that Clinton is a secret supporter of the trans-pacific partnership trade deal, which he says would be disastrous for manufacturing jobs in America.

The presidential race will also be a big topic of conversation for Congress. Congress returns to session from its seven week recess Tuesday. Lawmakers have a long to-do list. Items on the agenda include funding for the government, funding to help combat the Zika virus and the confirmation of a new Supreme Court Justice.
