Car enthusiasts from throughout the region gathered at the Northwest Arkansas Mall in Fayetteville on Saturday to raise money for the blind and visually impaired.
The Shine in the Dark Car & Bike Show, hosted by the Ozarks chapter of the Arkansas Council of the Blind, raises scholarship money for anyone who is blind or visually impaired and going into a degree-seeking program.
The scholarships range from $500 to $1000, and they’re also available for those who are children of blind or visually-impaired parents.
“It helps us raise awareness and it helps us connect with people to really help them out,” said Rita Reese-Whiting, state president of the Arkansas Council of the Blind.
The event happens twice a year.
