HUNTSVILLE, AR — The U.S. Department of Labor is investigating the death of a worker at a charcoal plant in Huntsville.

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, 22-year-old Arland Alexander was hit in the head with a metal door Tuesday.

When responders found Alexander at the Royal Oaks Charcoal Plant, they say he was unconscious and bleeding. Paramedics took him to Northwest Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The Sheriff’s Office believes a large metal door attached to a kiln was hit by a front end loader that caused the door to shift. The door then struck Alexander in the head.

The Arkansas Medical Examiner’s Office is still determining an official cause of death.

OSHA confirms it is investigating the incident.
