Coach Reunites with His Basketball Team After Surviving Car Wreck

A car crash in Oklahoma left one Northwest Arkansas man in the hospital for months.
Tonight Khaleel Rose walks out of the hospital to reunite with his team on the basketball court.

For 21 year old Khaleel Rose, coaching basketball is his life, but last November he saw how quickly life could be taken away.

“He’s a big part of our lives,” Family friend Jana Williams said. “It’s not something we expected so soon so we are really glad that he is here.”

Family friend Jana Williams was the first to the hospital when Khaleel was hit by a semi truck in Sallisaw Oklahoma.

Khaleel was in a coma for six days, underwent brain surgery, and was living through a feeding tube.

The doctors – ready for the worst outcome.

“He had a severe brain injury and it would be a waiting game and he basically told us we would need to wait 5 to 7 days to see if he wakes up or not and there is a good chance he wouldn’t and if he did he would never be the same,” Williams said.

But after months in the hospital, rehab, and lots of prayers Khaleel was released from the hospital on Thursday.

“I was on my knees with my kids and it’s changed the community and we are forever grateful I would say,” Williams said.

52 days later Khaleel is back on the court, and for 2019, he says he has only one goal.

“For my team to win the championship,” Rose said.
