Conversation with the Candidates allowed the community to better understand who will be on the ballot for the City Council races, District 89 House race and the Washington County Judge race.
Candidates each had three minutes to speak and then voters had the opportunity to meet with the candidates themselves. Mayor Doug Sprouse is unopposed this year for his position. He is urging everyone to go out and vote, no matter their party affiliation – especially during what some are calling a chaotic election year.
“Men and women we elect to our city council, that we put on our planning commission, that we vote on as mayor, those are very important positions that touch the residents lives more directly than many of those positions at a national level or state level that we seem to get more wrapped up in,” said Sprouse. “When you go to the polls, you’re not just voting for the alderman in the ward you live in, you vote for all of the alderman city wide. The politics closest to home are the politics that are really most important and affect you the most.”
