FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.– Downtown Fayetteville residents will soon have one fewer option for buying their weekly groceries.

According to our content partner the Fayetteville Flyer, a manager at CV’s Family Foods (formerly Saver’s Club, formerly Marvin’s IGA) confirmed on Thursday plans to close the Fayetteville location, located at 380 N College Ave.

The store has been through several changes in recent years. It had been known as IGA, and then Marvin’s IGA for years. In 2015, the location closed for remodeling, and re-opened as Saver’s Club. Roughly a year later, the store changed its name again to CV’s Family Foods.

The company also closed its south Fayetteville location about a year ago. An increase in competition provided by the recently opened Walmart Neighborhood Market may have contributed to both closures.

The store says it will begin marking down items as early as next week, and the store will close once the inventory has been suitably reduced, likely in the next 5-6 weeks.
