A search and rescue was underway in southwest Carroll County today, according to Eureka Springs Fire Chief Randy Ates.

The rescue was called on after a locked truck was found near Homer Johnson Farm on Highway 23.

After the truck was found, a missing person report was filed for 70-year-old New York native John Greve.

According to Ates, searchers from Carroll county Sheriff’s Office, Carroll County Special Operations, Emergency Management, Arkansas Forestry and Eureka Springs Fire and EMS participated in the search.

A tracking dog, helicopter and mapping data was used during the search.

Greve was found at the Kings River Outfitters at Trigger Gap. Reports say Greve’s cell phone died while he was walking on his 200-acre farm.

The report says Greve walked almost 5 miles, as he was unable to pinpoint which direction to go in, until he came out on Highway 221 near the Madison County line.
