Fayetteville Schools gives students parking space alternatives

The Fayetteville School District laid out a list of parking alternatives to students on Thursday.

Despite last October’s approval to add 200 parking spots this fall, that still wont be enough to meet student demand.

Right now, the school has an enrollment of over 2,500 students, but only 446 parking spots are available.

Those are distributed through a lottery system, but only to juniors and seniors.

This has forced some parents to pay over $500 to rent parking spaces in private lots near the high school. Those spaces, however, may be going away next year.

Last night, the school district offered alternative options to students.

Those include riding either a district or Razorback Transit bus, paying to park in a University of Arkansas lot or participating in the university’s bike share program.
