FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KFTA) — A special celebration honored female veterans in Fayetteville.

The Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks held the “Tags to Pearls – Women Veterans Night Out” event Thursday night.

Women who’ve served and are currently serving, along with their families, took part in tours of the women clinic and a special ceremony.

The VHSO has partnered with the Library of Congress on the veteran history project.

“There currently is a gap in female military history so they’re here tonight to get those stories,” said Roseanne Harris, Women Veterans program manager for VHSO.

Harris said the Veterans Health Care System is committed to helping women more than before and encourages female service members to reach out to them.
